Sony’s PS5 was Launched and Sold Out Online amid COVID-19

On Thursday, Sony Corp launched its newest PlayStation 5 (PS5) console online in the hope to maintain social distancing. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has implemented limited pre-order pick-ups which has driven a boom in gaming demand.  

The next-generation game console, which retails for US$500 or US$400 without a disk-drive, was sold out on major retailing sites in Japan and even sold for more than US$900 on Japan’s top flea market from Mercari Inc.
